A roundtable discussion was held by the Institute for East Strategic Studies (IESS) about the tensions in the Saudi Arabia-Pakistan relations.

On January 23, 2021, a roundtable discussion was held by the Institute for East Strategic Studies (IESS) about the tensions in the Saudi Arabia-Pakistan relations, which was attended by Seyyed Rasoul Mousavi, the director-general of the Iranian Foreign Ministry's West Asia Department, Mashaallah Shakeri, former Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, Seyyed Ahmad Fateminejad, a professor of International Relations, Abbas Fayyaz, the director of the IESS, Javid Hosseini, a researcher at the IESS, and a number of other experts on Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The root causes of tensions in the Riyadh-Islamabad ties, the different aspects of the relations between Pakistan and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf, especially Saudi Arabia, the impacts of the tensions on Pakistan’s regional policies, and the role of other countries such the United States, India, China and Iran in the tensions, were among the issues discussed in this roundtable.
